The Cult of Fools – Court Jesters or Circus Clowns? – June 20, 2021

A common literary device deployed by Shakespeare was the use of the role of the Court Jester. This would typically be a humble and insightful individual who, because of his status as Court Jester, could speak truth to power without consequence. The open secret is that the fool was no fool at all.

In our times, those labeled as fools for speaking absurd nonsense, might embrace not only this but also bible verses such as the following …

For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom

1 Corinthians 1:25

.. and so they embrace the idea that the daft things they are proclaiming is the wisdom of god beyond the understanding of the unwashed mortals that they look down upon with contempt.

If the bible is your thing, then there is another bible verse that you can use to measure them by …

16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

Matthew 7:16-17

Tune into the cult of fools and measure them by the standard that they themselves supposedly embrace. What you actually find is contempt, hatred, a lack of empathy or concern for anybody. Bereft of compassion, integrity, honesty, or basic human decency, what should we conclude?

Just this. These are not people speaking truth. Instead that are just a circus of very silly clowns.

Is this an exaggeration?

You can test this.

Below you will find a selection of claims and declarations that have popped up during the past week. As with previous weeks, my source is Right-Wing watch. Is any of it actually true, does any of it actually express compassion for others?

You can use their own words to judge them yourself.

The Big Lie

The Bible commands Christians to pray for those in authority, so Donna Rigney is praying that President Joe Biden will “repent” for stealing the election from former President Donald Trump: “I do not pray for him to be a good president. He’s in an illegitimate place. He is not chosen by God.”

After repeatedly declaring that former President Donald Trump will be back in the White House by August, Mike Lindell now says “it could be September. I believe it’s going to be this fall, for sure, [but] I don’t know when.”

  • The sound of goal posts being moved yet again is very much becoming a persistent and consistent background theme song.

COVID-19 Items

Bill Mitchell, who has spent a year and a half downplaying and spreading disinformation about the COVID-19 virus and pandemic, has missed the last week of shows because of “that damned flu I had for a week.” Or, “maybe it was Covid. Don’t know.”

  • Actions really do have consequences.

Also, this past week Bill Mitchell claims that he knows someone who has four friends who all developed cancer after getting the COVID-19 vaccine.

  • This line of thinking is on par with the observation that Tomatoes are dangerous because everybody who ate one between the years 1815 and 1856 is now dead. Cause and effect are not something Bill appears to be all that familiar with.

Truly Bizarre

Gina Loudon insists this past week that she doesn’t mean to peddle conspiracy theories—even as she spends an entire segment listing “the suspicious deaths that can be linked to the Clintons.”

  • Wild whacky claims – lots. Actual evidence for any of it … oh come now, you know her playbook here – exactly none.

Fools of the week – The False Profit$

The stars here are of course the religious grifters. To be wholly clear, most humans, regardless of their cultural belief or non-belief are decent. Some however deploy and leverage belief as a tool to manipulate and enrich themselves with. This section is very much dedicated to these religious fraudsters …

Hank Kunneman hopes that he’ll “be written in the history books of this nation” for standing firm on his conviction that Trump won the election.

  • History may indeed remember Hank for taking this stance. It will not however be looking upon him kindly.

Mario Murillo declares that “history will not be kind to this generation of American Christians because they were slow to admit the Democrat Party is Satanic. Until we stop the denial in churches we cannot hope to stop this evil. This is supernatural evil not politics. To muster the weapons of God against this evil we must fully accept what we are facing: A Demo/Satanic movement.”

  • History will not be kind to them because they have proven themselves again and again to be gullible idiots that can be easily manipulated by the grifter-in-chief

Robin Bullock demonstrates how easy it is to discover spiritual and/or prophetic significance behind anything, especially when one has no idea what they are talking about.

  • To save you the bother of clicking on the link, he is babbling about the statues outside the stock exchange being symbolically satanic. It takes a very special kind of stupid to be this ignorant. The actual symbolism is well known.

Eric Metaxas Says Biden’s Presidency Is ‘A Waking Nightmare’ That Will Bring About Revival

  • Their claim is that things are “satanically bad”, as opposed to perhaps “ordinary bad”, or even “not all that bad bad”. I honestly have no idea what the term actually means, and neither do they. The word “satanically” was simply deployed to press religious buttons.

Jerry Newcombe is outraged that a Muslim high school student said “one nation under Allah” while reciting the Pledge of Allegiance: “‘One nation under God’ allows the Muslim, the Buddhist, the atheist to practice what they wish. ‘One nation under Allah’ restricts freedom of those who disagree – even fellow Muslims of a slightly different stripe.”

  • Nobody, and I really do mean exactly nobody, in the audience noticed or cared at the time. Only those, such as Jerry, who stand ready to be offended at anything and everything pipe up later.

Evangelist Robin Bullock: God Spoke To Me and Said Joe Biden Should “Resign”

  • Robin, that message was not for Biden, it was for you.

Poll: Atheists Overwhelmingly Oppose the Death Penalty; Most Christians Favor It

  • The folks who claim to be pro-life are actually pro-death.

Highlight of the week – Quackfest

If you are wondering why some of the usual voices are not popping up this week. It is because they were all off in Florida at quackfest. Check out the following poster, it was literally a who’s who of wingnuttery and quackery …

If you are curious to know what went down, then you can check out the twitter thread by Jim Stewartson. He took the hit for the team to report on the details.

It was as insane and batty as you might imagine. Anti-vaccine, museum quality tent revival grifting, racism, fascism, and much more. Mike Lindell .. “dominion, dominion, dominion”. He really is quite determined to give them every dime he has in the current legal proceedings he now faces. Mike Flynn was claiming the Constitution is based on the Ten Commandments (its not). Mike was also encouraging lone wolves to rise up.

Quackfest was pure unadulterated cult batshittery for those that quite literally have no grasp upon reality. To put that another way, blend wingnut pastors with doctors promoting quackery and the result is that the circus has come to town. Here, gathered together in one place, were all the clowns.

That’s a wrap for this past week.

Will next week be any different, is it possible for all these crazy people to suddenly find some common sense?

You know the answer. Past experience is an indicator of future behaviour.
