- Elon and Trump are locked in a permanent feud neither can back away from. Both are sociopaths who only understand winning. There could be no better Godzilla to throw at Trump than Musk. He’s already said that his only goal is to make it impossible for Republicans to have a majority in either house.
- This is not a Ross Perot situation. Musk has so much more money than Perot ever did, and such a larger fan base, that there is no comparison. Moreover, Perot stupidly focused on the presidency—and Musk has already said that that is not his focus at all (perhaps partly because he cannot run himself).
- Every political analyst in the U.S. says the creation of this far-right third party may be the only way to defeat the political power Trump has accrued.
- There are discussions to be had about the uselessness of the Democratic Party and whether there someday might be an alternative. Those conversations aren’t for the moment this country is on life support. For now, this news is a godsend. There’ll be time for other conversations when America is saved.
- When your enemy is fucking up, don’t interrupt. Never seize defeat from the jaws of victory. Never look a gift horse in the mouth. Let them fight. Choose your meme/cliché—doesn’t matter. I just beg you to please urge everyone you know to let this happen, even applaud it, rather than fighting it.
