Claim: Doctor raised dead man back to life by the power of God

Today’s weird claim is made by Pat Robertson. Apparently a doctor channeled “god” to bring a dead patient back to life …

Yes of course Pat, the highly trained medical team with decades of medical experience had absolutely nothing to do with it, and so we can happily dismiss their active intervention and attribute this recovery to a supernatural agency.

As for any actual evidence … well when asked for such details, claimants such as Pat are rather mysteriously unable to produce any at all, and you need to simply just believe and so pretend you know that this is true when in fact you do not really know anything about it at all.

So how should one respond to such a claim?

Well, two rather obvious points spring to mind …

1) Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence

and in this case since there is none at all (there never is), then the second point kicks in …

2) That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.

But then you do know that somewhere inside my head this is also going on …
