Israeli space security chief claims UFOs are real

When it comes to claims concerning a UFO sighting, most tend to dismiss it.

Why?

Generally due to the lack of any credible evidence. What is seen usually offers a credible alternative and far simpler explanation. For example weather balloons, optical illusion, military aircraft, etc..

However, what is an interesting twist to all of this is the emergence of a credible and potentially reliable source. NBC News has run the following story on Dec 8, 2020 …

Former Israeli space security chief says extraterrestrials exist, and Trump knows about it

A “galactic federation” has been waiting for humans to “reach a stage where we will understand… what space and spaceships are,” Haim Eshed said.

A former Israeli space security chief has sent eyebrows shooting heavenward by saying that earthlings have been in contact with extraterrestrials from a “galactic federation.”

“The Unidentified Flying Objects have asked not to publish that they are here, humanity is not ready yet,” Haim Eshed, former head of Israel’s Defense Ministry’s space directorate, told Israel’s Yediot Aharonot newspaper. The interview in Hebrew ran on Friday, and gained traction after parts were published in English by the Jerusalem Post on Tuesday.

A respected professor and retired general, Eshed said the aliens were equally curious about humanity and were seeking to understand “the fabric of the universe.”

Well that’s it then. Case closed and mystery solved, it is all real.

Oh but wait … (Oh come now, you knew this bit was coming) … there are a few things of note here.

  • Yes, Mr Eshed is a respected professor and retired general.
  • He has a book that he is currently promoting. The title is “The Universe Beyond the Horizon: Conversations with Professor Haim Eshed“. This is not evidence, it is simply publicity hype for a book.
  • NBC News is not taking this seriously, their category that this was published under is “Weird News”
  • He offers no actual evidence for his claims, we simply are expected to take his word that it is all true.
  • The claim from Mr Eshed is that it is all still a big secret because the Aliens have specifically told him that he should not publish it, but instead keep it all secret … and so he immediately rushes out to publish a book and announce these details to the press. What part of “Keeping it all a secret” did he fail to grasp?

We also have this gem …

Eshed added that President Donald Trump was aware of the extraterrestrials’ existence and had been “on the verge of revealing” information but was asked not to in order to prevent “mass hysteria.”

Trump knows, and did not blab about it!!

He seriously wants us to believe that the guy who gives us a stream of befuddled consciousness every time he stands in front of a microphone has kept all this secret?

When it comes to secrets, Trump’s reputation is well-documented, he babbles classified information to anybody who will listen, including the Russians.

What do others think?

The NBC News story reports …

The White House and Israeli officials did not immediately respond to NBC News’ request for comment. Sue Gough, a spokesperson for the Pentagon, declined to comment.

You can literally hear them all eye rolling when asked to comment, and muttering “Oh FFS, not this stuff again“.

They also report how NASA responded when they reached out to them for comment…

A spokesperson for NASA said one of the agency’s key goals was the search for life in the universe but that it had yet to find signs of extraterrestrial life.

“Although we have yet to find signs of extraterrestrial life, NASA is exploring the solar system and beyond to help us answer fundamental questions, including whether we are alone in the universe,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

NBC also tried the well-known UK UFO investigator Nike Pope. For part of his career he worked for the UK’s Ministry of Defence and investigated all UFO claims. If there was activity in UK airspace and it was not the UK military, then they really wanted to know who or what it was. They never found any credible evidence for aliens. He advised NBC as follows …

Either this is some sort of practical joke or publicity stunt to help sell his book, perhaps with something having been lost in translation, or someone in the know is breaking ranks

What should can we conclude when faced with this UFO claim?

There is no credible evidence here, simply a claim associated with a book that is being promoted. The time to believe is when there is sufficient evidence for that belief.

It also strikes me that this all reaches the balance that such things usually sink to. There is just enough here for those that already previously believed to embrace this as more “evidence”, but there is nothing of any real substance here at all.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence,

Carl Sagan

Is there intelligent life out there?

Probably yes, but right now we simply do not know.

The universe is vast.

There are two distinct possibilities …

  • We are alone
  • We are not alone

… and both are equally frightening.

Haim Eshed UFO claims – Further Reading

Salon does a deep dive into the psychology behind all of this. It is a good read.

To quote that article …

“If Eshed has any solid proof to support his claims, he should tell the world what it is. Until he does so, we should feel no more obliged to believe him than we would any other conspiracy theorist.”

  1. This article does conveniently avoid mentioning the UAP’s that are coming to light and are confirmed. (This is just as much a confirmation bias as the UFO community is guilty of that the article references or implies) But that doesn’t mean we should take his word on it either. Yes, evidence is required, or at a minimum, a basis for him coming to know such, beyond his credentials. An available english translation of the book would help.

Beyond that, this article is using faulty logic in dismissing with one point. The point that he expresses the aliens don’t want the information spread is not a basis for dismissal in what he is saying at any level. I could name many individuals that have done the complete opposite in regards to what they are told to do with inflammatory classified information, but I believe one is enough to prove the point. Think Edward Snowden.

    • Hi Charles,

The supposed avoidance of UAPs that are confirmed is easily corrected.
      – For “UAPs that are coming to light and confirmed”, I’d recommend picking the very best example you have, the most robust and interesting one, and provide a link for it within a comment. Best to also pick an example that has not been debunked.

Regarding the supposed “faulty logic”. The observation that he ignored what he claimed he was advised to do is not the basis for dismissing his claim, the lack of evidence is. The observation is that he claims to have been explicitly told by aliens to keep it all a secret, they rushes out and publishes a book and holds press conferences about it all is simply an additional observation.
