The UKIP Weather forecast

David Silvester, a Ukip councillor for Henley-on-Thames, is now rather famous because he recently blamed recent storms and floods on the legalisation of gay marriage in Britain in a letter to the Henley Standard.

This of course attracted media interest, and so when interviewed by BBC Radio Berkshire, he restated these potty beliefs.

So what now, what should one do when faced with such outrageous lunacy from an elected official? Yes OK, it is just a tiny town council, but still, do you really want your town run by the village idiot, and if not then what is the best way to respond?

The answer is that you simply flow with it – there is a new Twitter account entitled @UKIPWeather that has rapidly accumulated 96K followers as I write this (which is almost three times as many as the official UKIP account, that only has 36K followers).

So what is the UKIP forecast for today?

Ah but others also have a few thoughts on it all as well …

We also now have the UKIP Shipping forecast … click here to listen (and laugh) … no really, do listen to this one, it is simply hilarious.

The Daily Mash also reports … Married gays to tour drought-hit countries …

Gay people in civil partnerships, who have been granted the power to summon rainstorms from the heavens by God and UKIP, plan to use it benevolently.

Nathan Muir, who saw storm clouds forming as he kissed his husband on their wedding day, said: “We’re honeymooning in Sub-Saharan Africa so that we can bring the waters of gayness to its parched landscape.

Oh and lets not forget this as well …

Now lets pause for a moment and ask ourselves one question … are we all being unfair to poor old UKIP simply because they happen to have one religious nutter in their ranks, and who has now been tossed out of their party because he has been too vocal about his lunacy?

Not at all, their official policy is equally potty. For example, they have promised that they will ban the teaching of climate change in schools if elected in May next year.

Really?

Yep, this week UKIP Education spokesman MEP Derek Clark has said the party will go even further …

We will still ban Al Gore’s video for use in schools if I’ve got anything to do with it. I will not have much opposition within the party. It is, of course, not just this video which needs banning; all teaching of global warming being caused in any way by carbon dioxide emissions must also be banned.

Alas, it is not just one lone nutter, the entire UPIK party is officially anti-science, and that is quite frankly complete and utter lunacy … but luckily most people have some common sense and don’t actually vote for them but instead simply laugh at them.

When faced with madness I tend to find that the very best response is indeed satire or mockery, and that is why I love the very idea of the UKIP Weather Forecast twitter account, and love that it is now far more popular that the official UKIP twitter account.
