Burzynski Quackery … some updates, and some good news. 3

I’ve a few Burzynski quackery updates for you. First is the news that Rhys Morgan, the 17-year-old skeptical blogger, has an article published in today’s UK Guardian (now that is impressive). He writes  about the details behind the Burzynski saga and then finishes with a very good quote that nails it …

“[Plaintiffs] cannot, by simply filing suit and crying ‘character assassination!’, silence those who hold divergent views, no matter how adverse those views may be to plaintiffs’ interests. Scientific controversies must be settled by the methods of science rather than by the methods of litigation. … More papers, more discussion, better data, and more satisfactory models – not larger awards of damages – mark the path towards superior understanding of the world around us.” – US Chief Justice Frank Easterbrook, Underwager v Salter 22 Fed. 3d 730 (1994)

Now, moving on,here is an excellent examination of the Burzynski Clinic’s list of publications by Jen McCreight (while there I’d recommend that you drop her blog into your RSS feed). Bottom Line – they are almost all abstracts of papers presented at conferences, which means they are not peer-reviewed. It does not end there. Today, she has More damning revelations about Burzynski’s “research” here. All well-researched and well worth a read, so do check it out.

Meanwhile … some really good news, Mr Marc Stephens, the dial-a-thug lunatic who stirred up the recent blog-o-sphere buzz with his clumsy threats, no longer has a “professional relationship” with the Burzynski clinic. The actual press release from the Burzynski Clinic announcing that is here.

You can also find lots of updates here from Josephine Jones who is tracking it all in her nicely-entitled “Stanislaw, Streisand and Spartacus” posting.

The spotlight is now well and truly focused on Burzynski – Lesson for the day, If you happen to be a quack, then don’t mess with skeptics by trying to bully them into silence, its just not going to happen.
